Small baby clothes - Part 3
Thursday 19th September 2024.
Today started quite early, in my infinite wisdom I'd forgotten to cancel a dentist appointment for a filling, with everything going on it was the last thing I really thought about, I phoned up the dentist and was told if I didn't attend there would be a fee to pay so like any sane person I went.
Whilst I was hobbling to my appointment I had a phone call from the specialist doctor we had met yesterday who did the detailed scan and amniocentesis, she told me that during the MDT (multidisciplinary team meeting) it was decided that although there was clearly something wrong it was not urgent enough to require an emergency c section and that I would be booked in for an elective c section after the weekend, I agreed this was a good idea and then was thrown into the absolute panic of oh my god, I'm having a baby in 4 days time and I have nothing ready.
I walked into my dentist appointment and the dental surgeon could clearly tell something was wrong, I told her all about my day and she flat out refused to do the filling as this would likely cause more stress as I was just in complete shock.
She sent my on my way and told me not to worry about the cancellation fee which made me feel a bit better.
I still had to attend the triage unit at my local hospital for more monitoring and another steroid injection. I felt a bit more reassured today as I'd felt lots of movements while hooked up to the CTG machine, within no time at all I'd met the criteria and updated my specialist doctor of the outcome. The plan was to come in at 8am on Monday morning and I'd be booked in for a scheduled c section, I was filled with lots of emotions, mostly nerves and worries about what was going to happen.
After being told we would be having a baby next week I thought it might be a good idea to pack my hospital bag today to try and keep myself occupied.
As we knew the baby was going to be born around 5 weeks early we knew she was going to be small this lead to a frantic trip to Asda to try and buy some tiny baby clothes and my last remaining bits and bobs I needed for my hospital bag.
We managed to find some lovely clothes as well as some comfortable clothes for me and some cute slippers, our family and friends rallied around us and dropped off snacks, more small baby clothes and my sister in law bought me tons of things I'd not even thought to buy.
By the end of the day my bag was packed (just in case) and I felt a bit more at ease feeling little kicks and rolls from my tiny baby I want to sleep with a mix of excitement and fear for the days ahead knowing we would have our little girl with us soon kept me going.
